Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
On November 22, 2003 the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens made NHL history by playing the league's first ever modern era outdoor game in front of 57,000 plus freezing fans in Commonwealth Stadium and millions more watching around the world on television. From that game we have the jersey worn by Edmonton’s Eric Brewer during the first period of play. Made by CCM, size “58” and Elite Sportswear tags are affixed to the collar, with NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the classic oil drop team crest in tackle twill, Brewer’s number “2” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching tri-colour tackle twill, with the NHL “V” Vintage crest over the right breast. Worn for just a single period of play, the jersey shows no visible signs of game-use but two light stains are found over the rear hem. Team and MeiGray patches are found on the inner hem and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “White Heritage Classic - NHL-MGG Set worn in 1st Period of Heritage Classic 11/22/03” specimen. An LOA will accompany.
