A staple of the Canadiens blue line for a total of 990 games over a 16-year National Hockey League career, Andrei Markov became a symbol of Les Canadiens imagery throughout the 2000’s. Presented here is this Andrei Markov game-worn jersey from the 2006-07 season. Featuring a size 56 flag tag on the inner collar, a faint handwritten “3” is found in the outline of the Reebok logo, denoting the jersey as from the third set. The front of the jersey features the classic and instantly recognizable crest of Les Canadiens in all its glory while the sleeves and verso of the jersey feature Markov’s number “79” in stacked three-colour triple layer tackle twill while the NHL shield is stitched onto the rear hem. “Markov” has been stitched across a matching affixed nameplate in single layer blue twill. The interior of the jersey features MeiGray tagging with serial number “D00368” which is listed on their population report as “Away Set 3”. Game wear exhibited on the jersey is plentiful and found throughout. The front features elements such as puck/stick marks and unrepaired holes especially up on the collarbone and shoulder area. The sleeves are the other areas with extensive game wear with board burns and puck marks being found as well as pilling at the end of the sleeves. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Images #73837230 to the hole on the right shoulder, marks found on the left side chest and shoulder, and a puck mark under the crest near the bottom hem stripes. A letter of authenticity from the team will accompany the item.
The lot also includes a Markov game-used TPS Adrenaline C12 stick hailing from the same season. A user of Easton sticks throughout majority of his career, Markov used TPS twigs at times during the 2006-07 campaign. Featuring the defenceman’s typical tapping styles on both the shaft and blade, game use is fairly light and contained largely to the blade with puck marks and rips to the blade tape present. With factory serial number coding still present on the lower back shaft, the stick remains free of cracks and breaks and presents well with great eye appeal.
