Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Maurice Richard was rightfully honoured on February 6, 1999 as the NHL created an annual award bearing his name that would be given to the league's top goal producer. Pictured here with Canadiens President Ronald Corey, Richard gracefully poses with the trophy. Teemu Selanne would be the first winner a few months later. The frame itself does have some scuffs, which is understandable when since it was on display in hockey’s revered temple. On the back, there are two pieces of wood which were used to mount it previously. However, this should in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
