Finishing first in the NHL over the Montreal Canadiens by a single victory, Gordie Howe and the Detroit Red Wings lost only 17 matches in 1954-55, and defeated the second-place Habs in the Stanley Cup final in a closely contested seven-game series. The victory would be the Motowners third championship in four seasons. This framed team photo has been signed by 18 members of the 1955 Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. At 16” x 20”, the black and white image depicts the full club in the traditional on-ice team pose, with the players all listed beneath. 18 have signed in blue sharpie near their listed name, including deceased HOF legends Howe, Lindsay, Pronovost, Delvecchio and Red Kelly, along with Pavelich, L Wilson, J Wilson, Stasiuk, Woit, Hay, Skov, Hillman, Reibel, Leswick, Skinner, Bonin and Bill Dineen. The signatures present well, with some minor wear to the photo visible, including near the image of Lindsay. Framed to full dimensions of 19” x 23”, this is arguably the greatest era in the history of the club.
