Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
The only defenseman in history to register a pair of 40-goal seasons, Paul Coffey earned a trio of James Norris Trophies throughout his lengthy Hall of Fame career while dressing for nine different clubs. From early in his HOF career, we have a signed stick used by the defensive specialist during the mid-1980s while with Edmonton. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with “Coffey” and “7” stamped to the upper shaft, the original white now-yellowing tape remains over the blade and black over the handle/knob. Heavy game-use is shown with wear to the taped section of blade including the underside, along with additional wear and dirt staining to the shaft. There is also a large crack to the upper shaft. Coffey has signed the shaft in fiber tip marker along with Mark Messier. We should also note that Coffey used Sher-Wood models throughout the majority of time with the Oilers (1980-87).
