Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
His fifth-straight season earning a spot on the NHL’s First All-Star Team, Maurice Richard would score 38 points in 59 games during the 1948-49 NHL season. The campaign would also be noteworthy for the Habs, with Bill Durnan amassing four consecutive shutouts, a record that would stay intact for over half a century. Calling for a salary of $9,900 (just north of $117,000 in 2021 dollars), this original NHL contract for the 1948-49 NHL season has been signed by the Rocket, along with fellow HOFers Clarence Campbell and Donat Raymond. A Standard Player’s Contract, the amounts are listed including a $100 bonus, with Richard and Campbell signing in blue ink, Raymond in black, with no issues for the signatures and light wear to the contract including fold lines and holes over the left border from previous binder insertion. There is also a large crease.
