Playing during what many consider baseball's "golden age" that took place between 1920 and early-1960s, an era dominated by the New York Yankees, offered here is this William Harridge official American League baseball that has been signed by a dozen players chosen to represent the American League at the 1950 MLB All-Star Game at Comiskey Park in Chicago including Joe DiMaggio, George Kell, Phil Rizzuto and BobLemon among others. An "Official American League Ball" made by Reach that dates between 1948 and 1950 based on the stamp that is observed on the ball's south panel, the sphere remains in excellent condition with light even toning observed throughout, tight laces and stamping that remains legible despite some fading and smudging from age over the main portion of it. Having been signed by the likes of HOFers DiMaggio, Kell, Rizzuto and Lemon, other key autographs that decorate the ball include those of Jerry Coleman, Hoot Evers, Sherm Lollar, Tommy Henrich, Ferris Fain, Tommy Byrne, Ted Gray and Vic Raschi. All having signed the ball in blue steel-tip fountain pen ink, all of the autographs in excellent condition and completely legible and are accompanied by a JSA LOA.
Additionally, also included with the lot are a pair of single-signed baseballs autographed individually by Hank Aaron and Frank Thomas. Both Rawlings made Gene Budig "Official American League" balls that date between 1995 and 1999, both balls have light but mostly even toning throughout (a bit heavier on the Aaron example) with all the stampings in good condition and observed without flaws. Signed over the sweet spots by Aaron and Thomas in black ballpoint pen ink, both autographs remain fully legible while the Aaron example shows moderate fading from age. Both having had JSA stickers affixed, the Thomas example is accompanied by a matching JSA COA while the one for the Aaron ball was lost over time.
