Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Guarding professional hockey creases for well over two decades, Gump Worsley earned a number of accolades and honours during his exceptional career which included capturing the Calder Memorial as well as winning a pair of Vezina Trophies. From his time with the Montreal Canadiens in the mid-to-late-1960s when the club was crowned Stanley Cup championships four times, we have a stick used by the 1980 HOF inductee. A Victoriaville Pattern Made Pro model with “L. Worsley” stamped to the upper shaft and “1” handwritten, there are also “Mailhot & Freres” stamps on each side of the shaft. The original black tape remains over the blade and paddle, with white over black on the knob and upper shaft. The original striping accent on the paddle no longer remains, with the outline visible. Completely solid with no breaks, the stick shows nice game-use with wear to the taped section of blade and numerous marks to the paddle, with a bit of spotting to the upper shaft along with small areas of red paint transfer.
