This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Hailing from the personal collection of 1972 Team Canada member Brian Glennie is this collection of beautiful hockey artwork including a framed “Saturday Night Hero” featuring the signatures of HOFers Maurice Richard, Frank Mahovlich and Johnny Bower as well as unframed limited-edition pieces “2000 Inductees” and “Hockey Night in Canada”. A charming scene familiar with all those who grew up loving the game of hockey, Steven Houston has captured the fantasies of young boys on the outdoor rink living out their Stanley Cup dreams while sporting the uniforms of the famed Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens while dad floods and cares for the ice. Beautifully done, the piece has been heightened even further by pencil signatures along the bottom from Maurice Richard, Frank Mahovlich and Johnny Bower with all the signatures bold and legible. Serial numbered “LPS 373/500” at the far left, Houston has penned his signature in matching pencil at the far right underneath the main image. Double matted and housed in a blue wooden frame that has wear/dings, full framed dimensions measure out to 26 ½” x 29 ½”. Also included in the lot are unframed litho’s titled “2000 Inductees” and “Hockey Night in Canada”. “2000 Inductees” by Daniel Parry measures out to approx. 20” x 21” and pictures the Hall of Fame along with dual images of Savard and Mullen, including both individuals hoisting Lord Stanley’s grail. Hand-numbered “HHOF 232/999”, the piece has been signed in pencil by each in space allocated, along with the artist Parry and the President of the HOF, Jeffery D. Denomme with all the signatures displaying well. Produced in 2000, the lithograph shows the expected handling wear along with spotting along the bottom. Lastly, is the piece titled "Hockey Night in Canada - La Soiree du Hockey" by Ken Danby. A wonderful image of kids watching on television as Paul Henderson gets it done in the 1972 Summit Series, the large print measures 24” x 32”. Danby has signed his name in pencil at the bottom, with the autograph still strong and legible. Serial numbered “622/1952” the piece shows some creasing around the edges and bottom. All three pieces will be accompanied by a Glennie family signed LOA.
