Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A nifty array of old baseball collectibles is available here, with a mix of American and Canadian issues present, led by plenty of star power. Post Canadian cards from 1962 feature Mantle and Mays in attractive VG form, with Aaron and Banks nicer (crease-free) and some surface scratches and indentations affecting Clemente. All Hall of Famers are pictured on (11) ’64 Topps metal coins, although considerable rim wear is observed. Two different Mantle, as well as Mays, Clemente, Koufax, Kaline and the Robinsons are most noteworthy. Other cards are led chronologically by four 1958 Hires Root Beer examples (Roy Face and Al Pilarcik x 3)(VG average) and in quantity by close to 200 Topps entries from 1959. Brooks Robinson (EX), Drysdale (G), Mazeroski and Podres lead the lineup, while from 1960 are Clemente (VG+) and VG-EX cards of Banks, Brooks Robby and Gibson. Well over 250 Topps cards from the ‘60s (mostly commons but with semi/minor stars spotted) are strong on ‘67s and ‘69s (100+ each), with crease-free VG+ to VG-EX examples looking to dominate, with some better/worse. There’s a mix of Topps and OPCs when it comes to the ‘70s, with Ryan (eight different), Rose, Bench, Reggie, Munson, Seaver, Brock, Carlton, Palmer, McCovey, Morgan, Carew, Winfield, Schmidt, Carter, Rice and still more HOFers all contributing, in most cases on several occasions. Notable rookie cards are ’75 Topps Brett, ’75 OPC Yount, ’78 OPC Murray and ’80 Topps Henderson, although none are high grade (VG to VG-EX). Superior is a NM ’82 Topps Cal Ripken Jr. RC, with condition typically better in the 1980s. Over 100 miscellaneous OPC commons from the ‘70s are rather rough, with five different OPCs autographed by Andre Dawson. Overall condition is not way up there but boy, a baseball lover’s delight still awaits.
