Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Originating from the club’s genesis with this particular style worn for just the first three historic seasons (1967-68 to 1960-70), these specimens are almost identical to examples worn later except for the single white twill numerals, with layered black and white tackle twill reverse numbers utilized after the 1969-70 season. Sporting a clean Pearson Sporting Goods label with their Philadelphia address sewn to the collar along with a size “46” fly tag, the vintage durene sweater has been styled with the classic winged-P team crest fully embroidered, with “29” over the verso (no player wore the #29 jersey for the Flyers until Terry Crisp, in 1973). There is also a laundering label from General Athletic affixed near the inside bottom left seam, with a white tag sewn just below the reverse hem with “981.41.1” handwritten. Surviving in spectacular condition, with all material soft and pliable and the colouration especially bold, the jersey was never worn and served as an extra, with just a few small stains visible to note.
