Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Instrumental in the genesis of the Montreal Canadiens as the club’s first captain, coach, and general manager, Jack Laviolette was responsible for sourcing the French Canadian talent the Habs first iced, including Newsy Lalonde, Georges Vezina and Didier Pitre. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of the 1916 Stanley Cup champion. At 6” x 10” (exposed), the modern print picture’s Laviolette in his circa 1913-17 Habs sweater. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1962 is listed, which is incorrect. It should read 1963) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
