Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Representing Slovakia at the World Championships and World Cup of Hockey, Boris Valabik was drafted by Atlanta in 2004, and saw action in 80 regular-season contests spread over three seasons. We have a signed Thrashers jersey that was worn by the Nitra native in the mid-2000s, during the preseason and/or training camp. A sewn-down CCM label with attached size “58” fly tag resides along the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with a textured and multi-coloured Thrashers team crest, the V-neck sweater has been embellished with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. There is also evidence of a former nameplate, with the fight strap showing signs of repeated washings. Game-use is light on the garment, with burns over each sleeve as well as a small slit near the left elbow. Valabik has signed the reverse “8” in black marker, with no issues for the signature. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
