Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Best remembered first as a player and then as head coach and general manager of the New York Rangers, with his relationship with the Blueshirts spanning over a quarter century, Frank Boucher first rose to hockey prominence as a member of the Vancouver Maroons, starring in the PCHA in the early-1920s. This circa late-1920s photo has been signed by the 1958 HOF inductee, and personalized to legendary Hollywood silent film era actor Harold Lloyd. At approx 6 ½” x 9” and in gorgeous condition, the glossy thick-stock print pictures the 1940 Stanley Cup champion in his Rangers wool, with the dark and flawless black ink signature and personalization added to the bottom right. A stamp from “The World Studio” of New York resides on the reverse along with “Frank Boucher” handwritten in pencil, with no issues for the gorgeous signature or high-grade photo. Boucher would pass away at age 76 in 1977.
We should note that the photo was previously sold at auction, with provenance from the estate of Harold Lloyd, with additional signed photos personalized from athletes to Lloyd sold including Ching Johnson and Walter Johnson. This is one of the nicest Frank Boucher signed photos in the entire hobby.
