Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Dominating the early-1960s with a trio of consecutive Stanley Cup championships won, the Toronto Maple Leafs would earn a fourth before the decade closed out, with the 1966-67 victory the most current for the noteworthy club. This lot contains a desirable Leafs 1962-63 Stanley Cup championship tray, and it’s accompanied by a 16mm film of the 1966 Stanley Cup finals. First, the tray was sold originally through the Canadian chain Dominions. At 10” x 17” and featuring the image of hockey's ultimate prize along with the Prince of Wales Trophy, facsimile signatures of the men who brought the blue and white their second of three consecutive Cup titles are engraved, including Tim Horton, Dave Keon and Johnny Bower. The 16mm film resides in its original 12” canister, with “Stanley Cup Finals ‘66”, “Produced for Molson Breweries Limited” and the duration of “28:02 Minutes” printed over the Chetwynd Films label. The tray exhibits light surface wear over each side along with the handles, with the 16mm film appearing in good condition, with wear and blemishes to the canister.
