Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The first European country to win twice at the World Championships, Czechoslovakia remained fiercely competitive despite the emergence of the Soviet Union, with four silver medals won at the Olympic Games between 1948 and 1984. This vintage jersey worn while representing Czechoslovakia during the mid-to-late-1970s has been attributed to Josef Machala (played with the Czechoslovak U18 team in 1977-78). A Czech label is affixed near the collar, with the vintage tie-neck jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Featuring a multi-coloured shield team crest with embroidered detailing, “12” appears over the sleeves and verso in drop-shadow, dual-colour canvas material. There is also an inventory number affixed to the reverse of the team crest, with the outline of the formerly sewn-on “Machala” visible over the upper reverse. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
Exhibiting light game-use with a few random marks visible, there is also some minor discolouration in spots, with no damage, rips or tears whatsoever.
