Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Highly desirable, rarely seen and a prize for the collectors of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Bee Hive photos, we have a scarce tie clip picturing the legendary Turk Broda, originally offered through a mail-in promotion. The hockey stick tie clips joined rings and pins in a two-year promotion launched in 1949 by the St. Lawrence Starch Company, already popular and famous then for its Bee Hive photos. The gilt-lacquered stick measure 3" long and exhibits light to moderate surface wear throughout, with the Lucite dome atop Broda’s image fairly clean. Originally sold for a mere 25 cents each along with a product label or box top, this tie clip is ready to nicely augment any advanced St Lawrence Starch Company holdings.
