Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Played in front of over 100,000 spectators in Ann Arbor, the 2014 Winter Classic witnessed an Original Six matchup as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout, with Leafs netminder Jonathan Bernier taking First Star honours. We have a Leafs jersey worn during the second period by Nazem Kadri, and it’s been photo-matched. A “56” size label sits along the collar beneath screened-on “NHL Winter Classic”, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring a felt Leafs team crest with affixed letters, the vintage-style tie-neck has been accented with matching felt sleeve and verso numbers, with the Winter Classic patch over the right shoulder. Kadri has added “My Gamer” with a signature over the fight strap, with a MeiGray patch numbered “K06550” residing over the inside hem.
Worn for just a single period, just a few small marks are present from game-action, including over the lower front band, near the team crest and over the upper left sleeve. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, Getty Images #459977413 and #459977423 have both been matched to the black mark on the left sleeve below the “43” in the upper white band (to the left of numbers). It should also be noted that according to the MeiGray population report, the jersey is a "Blue - Winter Classic 1/1/14 at Michigan Stadium (The Big House) - Team Set Worn Period 2 - 1/1/14 At Michigan Stadium (The Big House)" example.
