This lot contains game-worn items featuring some of Motor City’s best. We have a glove used by Mike Vernon circa 1996-97, and it’s been signed, along with a blocker also used by Vernon that has been signed. Next we have a pair of skates worn by Chris Osgood circa-2000, along with a tray that was to be presented to the NHLPA but was never awarded.
Arguably the most successful modern NHL team, the Detroit Red Wings have qualified for the playoffs every single season for the past quarter of a century! Even more remarkable, over those past 25+ seasons the Red Wings have won 4 Stanley Cups and have made 8 appearances in the Conference Finals. The breakdown for each of these Detroit Red Wings game-used items is as follows. 1) Mike Vernon game-used glove. A Vaughn Vision model in Red Wings red and white, identifiers have been screened-on and rubberized, with “Vernon” embroidered along the top of the wrist guard. Nice use is exhibited with a number of marks to the white areas of the pocket section. Stylistically dated to Getty Image #72307453 from the 1996-97, the glove remains in beautiful condition, perfect for display. Vernon has also added a dark and flowing black marker signature on the underside of the wrist guard, and it displays well. 2) Mike Vernon game-used blocker. A Vic McMartin model in Red Wings red and white, identifiers have been screened-on and rubberized, with “Vernon” embroidered along the underside of the wrist guard. Nice use is exhibited with a number of puck marks to the face, along with some wear to the palm. Vernon has placed a nice black marker signature along the right side edge, and it displays admirably. 3) Chris Osgood game-worn skates. Bauer Pro-Fit models, rubberized identifiers are present on the boots along with screened-on examples appearing on the moldings. With all the original lacing intact, there is also “24-28” and “30 DRW” handwritten along the underside of each skate. Nice use is visible on the pair, with a few marks around the blades along with areas of red goal-post paint transfer and some salting to the eyelets. Some reinforcing threading has also been added over the identifiers on both sides of each skate. A price tag from the Red Wings team store remains affixed on the right skate, and it divulges an original purchase price of $350.00. 4) NHLPA tray. At roughly 15” in diameter, the tarnished keepsake has engraved text that states in full, Presented To National Hockey League Players Assoc. By American Airlines In Appreciation of Your Outstanding Efforts on behalf of the__”. Apparently never presented, the tray remains in very good condition.
