Wayne Gretzky's 1981-82 Oilers Titan TPM 2020 game-used stick is from late in the season that he obliterated Phil Esposito’s record for goals in an NHL season on his way to scoring an astounding 92 times. The "Fev 3 1982" date stamp sits on the lower back shaft and "WG" was added in pencil to the back of the shaft right where the blade starts. A handwritten number “99” in black marker sits above the “W. Gretzky” stamp high on the shaft, just below Wayne’s original tape job on the knob. The bottom edge of his baby-powdered black tape job on the blade has worn through and more great game use includes red and blue paint transfer on the shaft. Comes with an LOA from Shawn Chaulk.
When Shawn Chaulk purchased this stick its previous owner mentioned that it was obtained in an Oilers game against the Colorado Rockies and that the game was either March 6 or 26, 1982. On March 6, the Oilers lost 5-2 and Gretzky was held scoreless; on March 26, Edmonton tied 6-6 and Wayne had three points, including his 91st goal of the season and his 114th and 115th assists (he finished the season with 120 assists).
A few strands of the tape job on the front of the blade have curled to expose the wood.
