Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
The weight, the thickness and length of the shaft, the way the blade curves and the angle it sits on the ice. There are so many important factors to each players stick preferences, and this is especially the case with a superstar like Mario Lemieux. We have a game-used stick from the HOFer along with a test stick and pattern model. The game-used and pattern examples are identical models made by Nike with “Lemieux” graphics - and annotations to the blade and shaft of the pattern stick, along with a rubber grip on the handle of the game-used stick with the tape removed from the blade. The test stick is a Nike model with TPS graphics over top, most likely used in practices with Mario probably preferring, and staying with Nike.
The game-used stick shows just light use, with a few marks on the blade and lower shaft. The stick has also had the Nike “swooshes” blacked out. The pattern stick has some handling wear to the shaft, with the aforementioned annotations in marker on both sides of the blade and on the topside of the shaft. The TPS test stick has the tape intact on the blade, along with a rubber grip on the handle. The stick shows wear to the bottom of the blade, along with a few marks on the lower shaft. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
