Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
A dominant force in the OHL, Eric Lindros spent three seasons with Oshawa where he managed 216 points in 85 games as well as successfully leading the Generals to a Memorial Cup victory in 1990. This lot contains a pair of signed skates worn by Lindros throughout the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons including in the 1990 Memorial Cup, and they’ve been photo-matched. Bauer Supreme Custom 2000 models, the size 12 ¼ quadruple “E” skates have “88” written twice on the underside of each in marker and pen, along with handwritten “Lindros” in ballpoint. Each Formfit Plus skate shows heavy use, with puck marks along the blade holders and scuffs and abrasions to the toe sections, as well as some pilling to the thick felt tongues from the red and blue fabric socks.
The skates also exhibit wear patterns, highlighted by white residue encompassing the affixed Bauer identifiers on the outside section of each skate. The signatures have been scripted in marker and are placed along the back of the Achilles tendon guards, and they both present well. As mentioned, these skates have been photo-matched. A pair of hockey cards along with a magazine photo that will be included show matches where Tuff Toe had been applied to the toe sections, and had dripped down onto the top of the blade holders. Three additional photos from 1990-91 also show matches with random marks along the blade holders perfectly matching the marks visible in the photos on both the inside and outside sections of each skate.
