This Rickey Henderson lot celebrates the greatest base-stealer in the history of baseball, and he could hit too! An instant collection, items offered featuring the man who stole over 1,400 bases includes a game-used and signed bat from the early-to-mid-1990s, a game-worn and signed A’s cap from the early-1990s, a signed pair of batting gloves from the 1990s and a game-worn and signed pair of cleats from the early 1990s. We also have a gorgeous base painted by Steve Houston, along with a signed newspaper display acknowledging Henderson as “The Man of Steal”.
First, we have the game-used bat. A Louisville T141 signature model, perfect stampings are present, with “24” handwritten on the knob. At 34”, the black-finish bat exhibits nice use, with wear and marks along the barrel. Henderson has signed between the signature stampings and center brand, with a perfect silver paint pen autograph. The hat is a Pro model, with an MLB licensee logo on the patch. “24” is handwritten on the underside of the visor, with nice use showing. Henderson has signed across the top section of the visor in marker, with the signature presenting well. The batting gloves were manufactured by Mizuno, and they show heavy use with Ricky signing both in blue marker. The cleats are also Mizuno, with the fitting model name “RunBird” on the undersides. They show nice use, with plenty of playing field dirt lodged around the spikes. These again have each been signed, with the blue marker signatures showing slight bleeding. The Rawlings base features beautiful images of Henderson expertly executed by Steve Houston, with his signature along with “91” on the lower left. Lastly, the newspaper display is from May 2nd 1991 and it pictures a triumphant Henderson with the headline “The Man of Steal”. Set to a wooden base under plexiglass to total dimensions of roughly 15” x 25 ½”, a plaque beneath states the particulars, with the paper exhibiting toning along with regular handling wear. Henderson has signed across his image in blue marker, with just slight bleeding noticeable.
