Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
All sorts of goodies from the boom years here for an entrepreneurial hobbyist to have some fun with. Twenty unopened wax/foil boxes from the early-1990s include ’90-91 OPC Premier and Upper Deck boxes, with Parkhurst, Pro Set, Pro Set Platinum, Pinnacle, OHL and Future Trends (Team Canada ’72 x 2) also present from the same era. Sealed factory sets of junior cards (7th Inning Sketch) total five and are all different (2 OHL, WHL, 2 Memorial Cup), while complete O-Pee-Chee sets in uncut sheet form include one from ’89-90, another from ’90-91 and two from ’91-92. Montreal Canadiens items which remain popular are Provigo figurines from the 1980s, (14 different sealed in original packaging and a loose Patrick Roy piece), and a 1993 “Fanfest” set, stilled sealed in its big puck-shaped box. Four different Fredericton Canadiens team sets are present, along with an ’81-82 Kingston Canadiens team set starring Kirk Muller. Two sets of NHL action stamps (Loblaw’s) from ’74-75 are affixed in albums, with handling and wear exhibited and some stamps having become unglued. Mario Lemieux is featured on over 40 un-used, flattened boxes (all the same) of Aqua Velva after shave, with an OPC box bottom from his rookie card year also carrying some weight. It is joined by nine other OPC box bottoms (actually, full boxes have been flattened) from later years, with 15 Kraft mac and cheese boxes flattened and featuring two-card panels. Some empty Kraft and Esso albums, a few small card sets, (Esso, Zeller’s, Smokey’s L.A. Kings, Kellogg’s, etc), ’73-74 WHA mini posters (glued) and a few surprises await the high bidder.
