Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Serious Bee Hive collectors, along with Maurice Richard aficionados, will be excited with the chance to score this ultra-scarce tie clip picturing the legend in his prime and originally offered through a mail-in promotion. The hockey stick tie clips joined rings and pins in a two-year promotion launched in 1949 by the St. Lawrence Starch Company, already popular and famous then for its Bee Hive photos. The gilt-lacquered stick measure 3" long and exhibits only light wear, while a small noticeable surface scratch and light cracking to the 3/4" Lucite dome are also to mention, the latter however not affecting the classic image of the scoring star. The tie clips, rings and pins were all available back in the day for 25 cents each, along with a product label or box top from the Port Credit, Ontario company. A coveted, seldom offered piece, the fabulous find will greatly enhance a Bee Hive/Rocket Richard shrine!
