Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

A graduate of the University of Tulsa before joining the Expos, Steve Rogers spent his entire 13-season career in Montreal. This Expos jersey was worn by Rogers in his last MLB season, 1985. Rawlings size tagging appears in the collar, with the date swatch of “44 85” on the lower right front denoting both the year and a size of 44, with the usually accompanying set tag gone. Styled with an attractive and clean Expos team logo, the jersey also features tackle twill numbers and letters. There is some sweat staining around the back neckline, with additional small stains on the back tail and near a pair of the buttons on the garment’s front.
As injuries hampered his ability to pitch, Rogers was released by the Expos on May 21, 1985. (Expos were playing their 38th game of the season on that day)
