Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Mucho eye candy and a tantalizing lot for lovers of high grade vintage material here, with most of the examples from Parkhurst’s challenging 1955-56 issue being awarded lofty marks between 7 and 8 from Beckett graders. In BVG holders labelled NM-MT 8 and second-to-none among similar cards examined by Beckett are 43-Geoffrion, 52-McNeil, 57-Morenz, 58-Joliat (cracked holder), 59-Hainsworth, 62-Siebert and 63-Durnan, while Maurice Richard’s card #37 leads a group just a tad lower at NM+ 7.5. Joining the Rocket are 18-Duff RC, 30-Bailey, 55-Lalonde, 64-Reardon and 74-Beliveau Bats Puck – talk about great all-time greats! Tim Horton’s card #3 is at NM 7, the same as 75-Leaf Speedsters Attack, while 44-Jean Beliveau is slabbed EX-MT+ 6.5. The important first numbered card, of Harry Lumley, appears similar but was deemed VG-EX 4, with a sub-grade of 3 for centering the apparent reason. All but the Lumley and Horton examples are the highest ever graded by Beckett and constitute a terrific opportunity.
