Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This is an amazing find, indeed. An original “How To Play Hockey” instruction booklet said to have been written by original Ottawa Senators star Percy LeSueur and published in 1909. A two-page preface is followed by instructions on how to play goal, “as examined and approved by Paddy Moran”, along with other “how to” articles. Images of the leading stars and teams of the day also grace the 48 page guide, including Cyclone Taylor, Art Ross, Harvey Pulford and Tom Phillips, along with Renfrew, Ottawa, and Cobalt team photos. Both the covers and interior pages remain in beautiful condition for the 4 ¼” x 6 ¾” volume, but with the staples lost, the pages are all loose but complete. As a point of reference, we’ve only handled one other copy of this work, selling in 2008 for $1017.00.
