Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Awesome original Yankee Stadium seat dates from prior to the extensive renovation of the House That Ruth Built following the 1973 season. No. “16” appears on the blue wood slat seat back making this beauty a fitting nod to Whitey Ford. The fold down seat remains attached and the wood slats through the back were cut when the seat was removed from the stadium. A paler shade of blue paint shows through in portions where the top coat of paint has worn off. Standing 32” tall in its vintage metal frame. We should note that the seat's top metal portions have broken off on both sides just below the top slat, and have been re-attached with epoxy in three different places on each side. There are also a few new screws that have replaced older examples used to adhere the back slats along the reverse.
