Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Representing the "Ligue Hockey Depression", we have this attractive perpetual hockey trophy that was awarded annually for a quarter of a century, from 1943 until 1968. At 14 ½” tall, the silver trophy has been mounted to a finished black wooden base in the style common to the era. Featuring dual-handles with embossed feather pattern on each, the trophy has “L.H.D. Trophy” on top along with “J. Archambault” and “Meilluer Gardien de Buts” (Best Goaltender) with the date “1943”. The reverse has “Gagnee Par” (Won By) along with the winning recipients from 1942-43 until 1967-68.
The trophy exhibits a number of condition issues, including some chipping with loss to the surface, along with a few dings and scratches. The top rim has lost its circular continuity, and the base exhibits wear, especially along edges. In good condition overall, the trophy displays well and would be perfect for any collection focusing on vintage awards.
