Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
This interesting collection of 8 World Series programs all feature the Baltimore Orioles, with pairs of programs for 1966, 1969, 1970 and 1983. The Orioles would sweep the defending champion Dodgers in 1966, beat the Cincinnati Reds in five games in the ’70 Series, and again win in five games in 1983, this time defeating the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite having one of the greatest line-ups in history, the 1969 World Series would be a losing endeavor for the Orioles, going down to the underdog “Miracle Mets” in five games.
We have examples for both venues for the 1966, 1969, 1970 and 1983 programs, all unscored except for the 1966 program issued for Memorial Stadium, which has been scored for Game 3. All of the 8 offered programs are roughly 8 ½” x 11” or a bit smaller, and all remain in beautiful condition, with just normal handling wear commensurate with their former use. This may include the odd surface wrinkle, small crease, corner/spine wear and light toning.
