Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Practically every kid who grows up playing hockey can remember playing tabletop hockey games. Whether it was an early wood or tin example made by Munro or Gotham, or a later example with a superstar endorsement like Bobby Orr, hockey table games have been popular for most of the second half of the 20th century. This lot contains 11 tabletop hockey games, along with an example for football, and one “casino” game. We have additional players also included, with most of the offered games not complete. Seven of the games come with their original boxes, with each game showing varying degrees of use. Please keep in mind that these were made to be played with by children, and they were, with some showing heavier wear/damage than others. This will include wear to the playing surfaces, bent poles, missing decals, etc. While some games may be complete, we feel more comfortable in stating that some “appear” to be complete, with the possibility of parts or players missing. This is a collection that has examples that obviously can be played, but we see these games as being more of a “collection”, with each perfect for display.
The breakdown is roughly as follows. 1) Stanley Cup game made by Eagle. 2) Power Play made by Eagle. 3) Vintage Munro wood game. 4) All-Star hockey. 5) Pro Hockey made by Eagle. 6) Bobby Hull hockey w/box. 7) Magnetic Football game made by Mag Power w/box. 8) Casino game made by Eagle w/box. 9) Stanley Cup Playoff game (early-1970s) made by Coleco w/box. 10) Stanley Cup Playoff game (early-1980s ?) made by Coleco w/box. 11) Power Play hockey made by Irwin w/box. 12) Munro All-Star hockey w/box. 13) Power Play made by Eagle (this is a duplicate of the example listed at #2). Accompanying the games we have a box full of unused generic plastic players (with no uniform decals), four sets of Wayne Gretzky’s NHL All-Star team packs in their original boxes (all Toronto), roughly 110 metal players, and approx. 160 plastic players. Some of these are extras, while some probably go with some of the offered games, but we’ll let the winning bidder puruse through everything and sort that out. Due to the size of each game, special shipping arrangements will be required, with local pick-up definitely an option.
