Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
If the Winged Wheel crest featured in the 14-karat gold and diamonds Detroit Red Wings pin doesn’t give away its original owner’s identity, the custom-made 14-karat gold watch chain that spells out “Jack J. Adams” should be a dead giveaway. These two pieces are featured in the legendary hockey icon’s personal jewelry collection of seven that also includes Adams’ 10-karat gold money clip along with his gold-plated money clip and tie bar, both engraved with his “J.A.” monogram, a yellow gold-filled pocket watch rope link chain with a Red Wings logo circular fob, and a 1910 ribbon bow brooch and locket, the latter with a 14-karat gold stamp.
The Red Wings 14K gold pin with diamonds and a ruby that, according to our consignor, was presented to Adams after Detroit won the Stanley Cup in 1952. It is stamped “14K" on the reverse;
A custom-made 14K gold watch chain spelling “Jack J Adams” is stamped “Kreisler 14K USA”;
A custom-made 10K yellow and white gold money clip, which is unmarked, has white gold letters spelling "Jack";
The gold-plated money clip and tie bar are each engraved with "J.A.";
A yellow gold filled pocket watch rope link chain with circular fob with Red Wings logo is stamped "1/20 12KTGF”;
A 1910 Inter Collegiate Champions, defenders of Allan Cup ribbon bow brooch and locket. The locket is 14-karat gold and stamped “14K” on the back. It displays crossed hockey sticks with a puck and is engraved "L.V. Trimble", most likely someone related to Adams' wife, Helen Trimble. The brooch on top is sterling and stamped as such.
