Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Originally a star in Russia who opened North American eyes with his stellar performance during the Rendez-Vous 87 tournament which pitted NHL players against the Soviets, Valeri Kamensky would ultimately wind up playing in the NHL, one of the early Russians to come to North America before the parade began. This Soviet National Team jersey was worn by Kamensky in either the 1990 or ‘91 World Championships, and it’s been signed. Finnish Tackla size tagging is affixed to the collar, with an additional Tackla logo over the right breast. All identifiers on the garment are sublimated including the name-on-nameplate, with dual “Allianz” advertising patches on each upper sleeve.
Game-wear is considerable on the Soviet jersey, with a ton of dark marks scattered throughout the front and both sleeves. There are also heavy board burns with resulting holes around both elbows. Kamensky has signed on the back “1” in black marker, with the signature showing just the slightest amount of fading.
