Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Despite the lack of enshrinement in hockey’s house of holy, Paul Henderson will always hold a special place in the hearts of Canadians, with his monumental 1972 series-clinching goal truly… “The Goal of The Century”. This lithograph celebrates that very goal, with the famous image of a jubilant Henderson embraced by Yvan Cournoyer, while a defeated Vladislav Tretiak looks on. At 23 ½” x 31”, and with an image area of 16” x 20 ½”, the black and white lithograph is numbered 507/1972 to illustrate that its edition is limited. Henderson has added a nice and dark signature below the image on the right, and the artist has also signed in the very bottom left. In excellent condition, the image is definitely the most important goal scored in hockey history. A COA will accompany.
