This is the fifth and final Prince of Wales Trophy Jacques Laperriere won during his stellar playing career with the Montreal Canadiens. The 1972-73 Canadiens ran away with the East Division title, finishing the regular season with 120 points. That was a 13-point margin over the second-place Boston Bruins, who won the trophy as division champs three of four years from 1971-74. This original replica trophy was produced for the NHL by Boffey and presented to Laperriere in recognition of the Canadiens' title. The H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy plaque on the front of the 2" high wood base has Laperriere's full name engraved on it while a plaque on the back of the base reads, "N.H.L Champions, 1972-73, Club de Hockey Canadien". The trophy stands almost 13" tall. The lid of the trophy has some glue residues on its edges and the trophy exhibits minor tarnishing otherwise remains in excellent condition. The green felt bottom of the base is autographed by Laperriere, who has also provided a signed letter of authenticity for this fantastic collectors item.
