Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016

Think of the history that comes along with this dazzling red, white and blue Henri Richard Montreal Canadiens game-worn wool jersey. The Pocket Rocket wore this incredible Habs gamer during the 1968-69 season. Richard contributed 52 points in 64 regular season games and added 6 more points in 14 playoff games as the Canadiens repeated as Stanley Cup champions with their second straight four-game sweep of the expansion St. Louis Blues in the final.
The white and blue double-twill #16 sewn onto the back exhibits some red bleeding that also plagues the tackle-twill CH logo sewn onto the front, as well as the white wool bands around the chest, the hem, both sleeves and around the collar. Richard's alternate captain's "A" as one of longtime Canadiens captain Jean Beliveau's principal deputies remains sewn onto the left breast, with its white twill exhibiting the same kind of aging reflected on the #16 on the back and both sleeves and the right sleeve is custom-shortened at the cuff. The jersey is photo-matched to a pair of photos, specifically to the placement of the team crest and to the placement of the numbers on the sleeves especially to the "6" of "16" on the right sleeve. A few holes are to note on the front, including one on the right breast. Two more holes to the left of the number on the back and a team repair above the hem and a few more holes on the sleeves. The jersey also exhibit a few small holes on the sleeves and shoulders areas as it was previously mounted for display but these do little to detract from this outstanding gamer worn by Henri Richard, whose 11 Stanley Cups as a player stands as a record that is unlikely to be challenged in our lifetime. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Will come with an LOA.
