Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015

With only six full seasons in the NHL for the Colorado Rockies, jerseys from the short-lived franchise are highly desirable. This Colorado Rockies jersey was game-worn circa late-1970s. With the correct Rawlings size tagging in the collar and garter-style fight strap, this mesh jersey features durene sleeve and lower front bands with screened-on logos and rubberized numbers. With evidence of a former nameplate, it should be noted that a number of players wore #2 in this era.
This garment shows an absolute ton of game-use including stick marks and board burns with one unrepaired hole on the right sleeve, and good sticks marks, board burns and paint transfer on the left sleeve. The front and back exhibit a number of large stick marks and paint transfer, with the jersey being formerly hemmed at the waist, and there is also some pilling to the interior. As mentioned, a number of players wore #2 in the late-1970’s including Bryan Lefley for 58 games in 1977-78, Nick Beverly for 52 games in 1978-79, Joe Watson for 16 games in 1978-79, Nick Beverly for 46 games in 1979-80 and Kevin Morrison who played in 41 games in 1979-80.
