Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The 1999 season was the start of a new chapter in Jacques Villeneuve’s racing career, he made the decision to leave Williams and joined the newly formed British American Racing (BAR). The season was very trying for Jacques and the team as he failed to finish the first 11 Grand Prix’s of the season and had a best result of 8th at the Italian Grand Prix.
This Bell Dominator helmet painted by Bell S.P.O.R.T.S. Europe in Jacques’ traditional style has been tagged “99-15” by Bell staff denoting it was the 15th race helmet prepared for Jacques in the 1999 season. The helmet shows tremendous wear with a large amount of pitting on the forehead as well as a large chip on the left ear side which was caused by a tear-off slapping the helmet during use. This only occurs if the helmet has seen an enormous amount of use.
The helmet has all Jacques’ customizations; the vents are closed-off, extra eye-port foam has been added, the drink tube was drilled out and both the tube and the full radio remain intact. Jacques has applied his signature to the visor. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 99-15” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
