Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Patriotic paint job is signed by artist Krazy Kathy on Ray LeBlanc’s striking Team USA game-worn mask, which saw duty leading up to the 1992 Olympic Winter Games. LeBlanc wore this red, white and blue beauty with the Team USA logo on the forehead and eagles on both sides right up to the Games in Albertville before switching to another mask for the Olympic tournament. The manufacturer’s decal inside dated “20 02 1992” says this is a BSM II model mask. There is obvious game wear inside and out with paint chips at the chin and on the left back edge, and a big red mark on the right side of the top. Comes with its straps, backplate and all interior padding intact.
LeBlanc appeared in all eight games for the United States in Albertville, where he posted a record of 5-2-1 with two shutouts. The Americans finished out of the medals, though, as they lost 6-1 to Czechoslovakia in the bronze medal game.
