Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Interesting issue that comes along very infrequently was released by Campbell's Soup in the early-1930s, with the cards coming in panels of two and depicting the "Campbell's Kids", along with a rhyme that promoted the company's soups. The cards were meant to be separated and then bent in half, propping the kids and their dye-cut heads into a 3-D scene. The cards of a hockey player and a toboggan-riding girl were indeed separated at one point and folded, with a light crease affecting the latter, with however the other three (4-3/8" x 6-3/4") panels in difficult-to-ask-for-nicer near mint or better condition. Colorful cards could be used (on the back) to keep score in card games like Bridge. The Canadian set is complete at eight, while the American version had 22 totally different cards. Oh Canada!
