Tie Domi played the first two of his 1,020 NHL games in 1988-89 for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Albanian Assassin racked up an astounding 42 penalty minutes while wearing No. 40 during his brief first go-round with the Buds. Offered are Domi’s 1989-90 Leafs game-worn No. 40 jersey, his Maple Leafs CCM game-worn gloves, and his signed Winnipeg Jets game-used stick. The jersey has Maska flag tag over “86 07” born-on date tagging in the back of the neck, with evidence of a former longer nameplate, with no alterations to numbers on sleeves and back, and a customized fight strap. Included is an LOA that states the jersey was originally acquired directly from Leafs trainer Guy Kinnear. Also comes with an LOA for the stick and an LOA for the gloves.
The fight strap customization features a nylon patch sewn inside the back over the original patch, which had its strap cut off, and a heavy duty white cotton strap sewn onto it with a plastic clasp forming the loop. Game wear includes board burns on the blue fabric on the lower right sleeve, light marks on the lower left sleeve, various small fabric pulls, and a few tiny reddish-brown spot stains on the back. Domi is listed in the Maple Leafs’ 1988-89 and 1989-90 training camp guides as wearing #40, which he wore for the two regular season games he played with Toronto in 1989-90 (one at home, and one on the road). From video of the Maple Leafs’ March 3, 1990 home game, Domi doesn't seem to be wearing this jersey, so it was most likely worn by Tie during the preseason, in training camp or as a regular season back-up. In 1986-87, Scott Clements is listed as wearing #40 in training camp and Derek Laxdall wore #40 at the 1987-88 Leafs training camp, both according to Maple Leafs training camp guides for those seasons.
Domi’s circa 1995-96 Maple Leafs game-worn gloves have “Domi” screened in white on the front cuff of each glove and really good wear to the palms, including an unrepaired hole through the bottom right of the palm of the left glove;
Tie’s Jets game-used stick is circa 1992-95 with his original tape jobs on the knob and blade and "T Domi" stamped on the shaft. Domi has signed in black marker on the heel of blade. , detail stick and game wear. Game use on this solid and crack-free beauty features a long swath of red paint transfer on the back edge of the upper shaft.
