Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Offered in this lot is goaltender Andy Aitkenhead's beautiful wool cardigan sweater presented to him by the Springfield Indians. Andy spent only the single season of 1928-29 in a Springfield uniform, before three memorable seasons on Broadway with the Rangers in the early-1930s. Featuring a gorgeous chenille Indian head crest with blue accent threading, the heavy wool cardigan has all eight of its original buttons intact. Andy’s full name appears chain-stitched to a label in the collar, with the garment exhibiting just light staining/discolouring around the neckline. With no other issues to note, the sweater has survived the past 90 years flawlessly. An original pair of Indians game socks are also included.
