Nice rack of seven early-1970s Toronto Maple Leafs sticks includes Jim McKenny’s game-issued stick team-signed by members of the 1973-74 Leafs. Also included are Bobby Baun, Rick Kehoe, Eddie Shack and Don Marshall game-used sticks, a Doug Favell game-issued stick, and a 1970s Maple Leafs souvenir stick. HOFers Norm Ullman, Lanny McDonald and Darryl Sittler are among the 19 autographs on McKenny’s team-signed stick.
“McKenny 18” is stamped on the shaft of Jim’s Sher-Wood game-issued stick, which has 19 red marker signatures on one side of the shaft, including HOFers Ullman, Sittler and McDonald, as well as the likes of Hammarstrom, Glennie, Kehoe, Favell and Ecclestone, among others. The date “3/3/74” is handwritten in pencil on the front of the shaft;
The Kehoe and Baun Sher-Brooke gamers both have “4/11/72” handwritten on the front of their shafts in red. Both sticks have “Maple Leafs” stamped low on the front of their shafts and each has its original tape jobs, with “B Baun 21” stamped on Bob’s and “Kehoe 16” stamped on Rick’s. The name of the previous owner is stamped in red on both sides of the shaft of each stick;
“Marshall 22” is stamped on the shaft of Don’s Sher-Wood game-used stick with the five-time Stanley Cup winner’s original tape jobs on the knob and blade. “4/14/72” and “playoffs” are handwritten on the shaft and the former owner’s name is stamped on both sides of the shaft, all in red;
Eddie Shack’s Sher-Wood game-used stick has his surname misspelled “23 Schack” in the stamp on the shaft below his nicely worn white tape job on the knob. There is another vintage tape job in the middle of the shaft with black bulldog tape covered in the middle by a few more wraps of white tape, and Shack’s white tape job on the blade has worn through the bottom edge. “4/11/74” and “playoffs” are handwritten in pencil on the shaft;
“Favell D. 1” is stamped on the shaft of Doug’s Sher-Wood game-issued stick, which has “4/11/74” and “playoffs” handwritten on the shaft;
The 1970s Maple Leafs souvenir stick has stamped signatures on the shaft.
