A star-studded lineup gathered June 3rd, 1971 in Toronto for the Charlie Conacher Hockey Awards Dinner, an event to benefit The Charlie Conacher Research Fund, with throat cancer, (Conacher's demise), the fund's primary project. The Charlie Conacher Humanitarian Award was presented to an NHL player at the annual event which recognized contributions made from 1968-69 to ’83-84. Bobby Orr and Jean Beliveau were the co-winners in 1970-71 and received their award on this night from guest speaker Lester B. Pearson. The inside front cover of the dinner menu/programme features a big flowing Orr autograph, beside that of longtime Maple Leafs’ captain George Armstrong. Below are the similarly first-rate blue ballpoint sigs of Beliveau, Gordie Howe, Dave Keon, Bob Baun and two we’re not sure of, while signing the upper portion were Toronto Argonaut football players Joe Thiesman and Greg Barton. A picture of the late great Conacher is on the opposite/opening page. Measurements are 7" by 9-1/2," with jumbo shrimp and grilled prime tenderloin steak on the menu. The delectable piece has “Chris” penned to the cover, the upper right corner of which includes a crease.
