Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015

It was hurler Ken Forsch's second season in the big leagues, his second of what would become 16 seasons as a major leaguer, and it was this 1971 campaign when the big right-hander wore this game-worn Astros jersey on his way to posting an 8-8 record with a very respectable 2.53 ERA. Chained-stitched in the collar as "42 43 71" (size, number, and year), this flannel road gamer shows various faint staining on the upper front (tobacco?), with puckering on the "Astros" patch on the sleeve, and double twill "Houston" letters and number "43". To note is Forsch's name lettering, wich was restored at some point. A small flap tag on the tail shows "Set 1, #8P 1971" along with a sewn-on "Rawlings" patch and washing instructions.
Evidence of the name being restored at some point includes that the stitching is different and the name doesn't show wear like the back number and the team name on front of the jersey.
