Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
An extraordinary pack-pull a few years ago was this sensational one-of-one created by the Upper Deck Company in 2009 and featuring a breathtaking autograph of hockey immortal Howie Morenz. We would have loved to seen the look on the face of the person who discovered this Upper Deck Black Wood Cuts prize! Morenz’s penmanship is on a piece of a game-used stick, with the wood rather spine-tingling to touch. For the uninformed, the great Morenz, named Canada’s outstanding hockey player of the first half of the 20th century, died in 1937 due to complications from an injury sustained in a game. Appearing in the upper left corner region here is “01/01” in gold ink, with “WC-HM” accompanying a short write-up about the Canadiens’ legend on the back. We spot “white” at the upper left and bottom left corners, with a few light scratches on the reverse also to be aware of. Owning the only one in the world is a wicked cool thought, isn’t it?!
