Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Considered by many as one of the most important compilations of Stanley Cup writings is Charles L. Coleman’s now-legendary 3-volume “Trail of the Stanley Cup” books that covered hockey from 1893 to 1967, set into leather bound limited-edition sets totaling 1000, and originally issued to various NHL players and VIPs. From the glorious set is this original printing plate collection of 38, ranging in size from roughly 1” x 1 ½” to 2” x 2 ¾”. Housed in their original storage envelopes with the individual’s name typed-on along with a few that have early-1960’s dates, the plates remain in excellent condition, with wear and residue to the backs of some. Included are Taylor, Patrick, Howe, Plante (3), Shore, Clancy (2), Beliveau, Hull, Schmidt and more. We should note that two of the three Plante plates are stuck back to back, but they should be able to be separated by the winning bidder if so desired.
