Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Netminder Phil Myre was going good for the Montreal Canadiens until a young rookie named Ken Dryden decided to stand on his head in the 1971 playoffs and soon enough, Phil would be claimed by the Atlanta Flames in the ’72 Expansion Draft and onwards he went. From what is most likely a late-career AHL or possibly from his days with the Buffalo Sabres or Colorado Rockies is this CCM game-used goalie stick with Myre’s original tape job on the handle, but with the blade tape removed from the blade. The blade has experienced some rough going, with the tip of it broken off, along with cracks showing near the heel. Aside from such battle scars are game marks scattered about, and “Myre” is stamped near the top of the shaft. Nice gamer from a fellow who also was part of the tandem in Philadelphia with Pete Peeters when the Flyers went on their amazing 35-game undefeated streak back in ’79-80.
