Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Three 1980s game-used sticks on tap from a couple of HOFers and a terrific goalie who would collect 3 Stanley Cups as a goalie coach after his playing days had ended. We have a nice Koho wielded by HOFer Larry Murphy (ind. 2004) and which features his original black tape on the blade and handle, with marks making their way up the shaft. Murphy has signed his name in green marker (and nice handwriting) close to the heel, while on the shaft is a stamped “Murphy L” and a handwritten “8”. Stamped numbers “3349 2” are near the bottom of the shaft. According to our consignor, HOFer Dino Ciccarelli (ind. 2010) used the “Canadien” stick offered here in his rookie season with the Minnesota North Stars, 1980-81, with the stick having original white tape on the blade (which also covers the heel) and white on the handle as well. Nice game use is evident, and “Ciccarelli” is stamped just below the knob, while “999” is near the bottom. Gilles Meloche’s Sher-Wood goaltender’s stick has original white tape on the blade, handle, and above the paddle, and also includes a piece of white felt taped at the top of the paddle. Much of the blade tape has become undone and looks like it’s been through a war with a long large crack running along the bottom of the blade. Marks are scattered about, and “Meloche G. 27” is stamped on the upper shaft. Cool 1980s gamers for sure.
